Gradac (river)

The Gradac (Serbian: Градац, Gradac, pronounced [grǎːdats]) is a river in western Serbia, tributary of the Kolubara. It cuts a canyon in south-north direction with a length of 22.7 km. Measured water course, has a length of about 28 km and the total drop of 187 m. Source of the river Gradac is situated at the foot of the mountain Povlen.

Gradac river gorge, with its source tributaries, the special characteristics and the degree of preservation, belongs to the less well known natural values of Serbia. However, among the representatives about ideas of nature protection, this site is very highly rated. It lies south of Valjevo and influent in the Kolubara directly, on the right side. Gorge of the river is the habitat a number of rare plant and animal species.In the river Gradac live brook trout, chub, barbel, crabs.Picnic grounds and bathing place,a fisherman's paradise. The biggest attraction of Gradac river is undoubtedly the Otters.

In the gorge of river Gradac has discovered more than 70 caves.[1] The Degurić cave is,according to the latest research,the longest and,with its characteristics,the most beautiful cave in the region of Valjevo karst.In caves are discovered traces of palaeolithic, and middle ages ancient times.
